People in need of affordable housing will benefit from a $5 million NSW Government investment in the community housing sector, which will help to deliver 32 new homes in Sydney’s North West.
Member for Castle Hill Ray Williams said the project will be delivered in partnership with Link Wentworth through the NSW Government’s Community Housing Innovation Fund (CHIF).
“This project includes a mix of housing options for individuals and families and will be built a stone’s throw from Rouse Hill Metro Station,” Mr Williams said.
“The development will create local jobs during construction and will deliver more affordable housing options in close proximity to transport, shops and services.”
The CHIF is a $150 million program delivering more social and affordable housing in partnership with Community Housing Providers across NSW.
Minister for Families, Communities and Disability Services Alister Henskens said the Rouse Hill project is one of 14 being funded under the latest round of the CHIF.
“This program is unlocking new and exciting development opportunities by partnering with the community housing sector, adding to the strong pipeline of new housing being delivered to support vulnerable people,” said Mr Henskens.
Link Wentworth have been operating and committed to The Hills for nearly a decade. In 2018, they commissioned a report that estimated the shortfall in supply of social and affordable housing in The Hills to be 4,000 dwellings in 2036.
Link Wentworth CEO, Andrew McAnulty said, “The project will create local jobs, and much needed diversity of housing for local people. Through the partnership with the NSW Government we will bring this quality project to life and in doing so make a contribution to addressing housing need in The Hills.”
“The NSW Government’s $50 million contribution to the 14 projects through the latest round of the CHIF will support community housing providers to deliver $116 million worth of housing.”
