In the Nepean Blue Mountains area, we run specialist homelessness services and have caseworkers who can develop a support plan and link you with services and connections to help you get on top of other challenges you may be facing. Some of things they can help with are:
- Working with you to understand your situation and what is putting you at risk of homelessness
- Developing a support plan to help you deal with the challenges that are putting you at risk of homelessness. These might be your family circumstances, loss of income, health challenges or private rental problems
- Supporting you to manage these issues over time and stay in your home; or to find a new home that’s affordable and right for you
- Supporting you to maintain your home and to look after your health, manage your finances and rebuild your family and community connections.
Through our Assertive Outreach service, we come to meet you where you are staying – in your car, in a park, under a bridge, at your friend’s place – so we can best understand your circumstances and needs.
In other areas we can help by giving advice and referring you to specialist homelessness services to help you find temporary accommodation, and in some cases, a more permanent option.
Domestic Violence Support
Our Nurreen service provides specialist support to women and children in the Hawkesbury who are experiencing or escaping domestic violence. We deliver this service in partnership with DV West. If you need a place to stay and stabilise your situation, we can help find temporary and short-term accommodation. We have one home that provides accommodation for up to twelve months. We can also help you to find a private rental property, access rental assistance and apply for social or affordable housing.
The service also provides domestic and family violence support to you if you remain in your own home.
