Following the merger in early 2021, Link Wentworth has been steadfastly committed to ramping up our advocacy efforts. We want to ensure that all Australians have access to safe and secure housing and we know that part of achieving this goal is ensuring our government invests in building more social and affordable housing.
As one of the largest community housing providers in New South Wales, we are proud to give our voice to a number of events and activities that spreads this crucial message.
Our CEO Andrew McAnulty presented at the CHIA NSW conference in August, where Link Wentworth was a major sponsor. The conference brought together over 350 NSW and interstate industry experts, practitioners and government partners to discuss the future of housing need in NSW. Mr McAnulty spoke at the closing plenary on day one, discussing housing recovery post-COVID, and our Chair Mike Allen facilitated the day two session on the changing roles of Board members in community housing.
In October, Mr McAnulty presented at the Southern Sydney Regrional Organisation of Councils (SSROC) Affordable and Diverse Housing Forum in October. He spoke about how community housing providers and local councils can work together to find mutually beneficial solutions to the housing crisis.
In addition to this, Link Wentworth also appeared in print, with Mr McAnulty penning an opinion piece for Parity Magazine’s June 2021 issue. We also sponsored the commissioning of Deloitte’s recent paper on the Social and Affordable Housing landscape in Greater Western Sydney.
We hope our advocacy efforts signal the great need for further housing supply in Sydney, demonstrating the key role that CHPs can take in addressing homelessness and providing the human right of a home.
