Last week we celebrated progress on our Queenscliff development which is transforming the former Queenscliff Community Health Centre site into 37 social housing apartments. With support from all three levels of government and a range of passionate individuals and organisations, the project is the result of true collaboration. The midway celebration was a chance to reflect on the progress made so far, the challenges that have been overcome, and the importance of advocating for housing for our most vulnerable.
Thank you to our special guest speaker Hon Rose Jackson MLC NSW who has been a key supporter of the project and social housing more broadly. We also appreciate our local representatives Michael Regan MP, Zali Steggall OAM MP, James Griffin MP and Mayor Sue Heins who attended and spoke so eloquently about the importance of this work.
The growing need for social housing was consistently highlighted, especially for women over 55 facing financial hardship due to issues such as relationship breakdowns, domestic violence and financial coercion. With women 55 years and over the fastest growing group experiencing homelessness, it is clear the lifechanging impact that 37 permanent homes will have for the Northern Beaches community.

The project is being delivered by Link Wentworth under Round One of the Australian Government’s Housing Australia Future Fund (HAFF) with more than $6.5 million in state government funding.
