Come take a walk on the wild side she says
The old stomping ground of yor,
She’s forgetting the scene when I ruled as queen
Was over thirty years before!
Tight jeans are out, high heels no
And miniskirts – forget it,
If you wore it back then you can’t wear it again
And I’m not gonna live to regret it!
She’s doing her hair and make-up while
She’s knocking back the booze,
I’m rubbing on my muscle cream
And putting orthotics in my shoes.
You still look great she says to me
My gear and big hair passes,
But it really doesn’t go you see
With wrinkles and my glasses!
A loud, dark and dingy, smoky den
Gives all my worst fears proof,
It’s tragic when us gals and men
Relive our misspent youth.
We must do this again she says
As though it’s all been bliss,
But I sink gratefully into bed and think
I’m just way too old for this!
